Anadolu Shipyard continues to develop advanced engineering solutions and increase its new military shipbuilding capacity with determination.
Established as 'Deniz İnşaat Kolektif Şirketi' in Haliç, the company changed its name to 'Anadolu Deniz İnşaat Kızakları Limited Şirketi' in 1971. While the company relocated its headquarters to Büyükdere, operations in Haliç continued. During this period, the company successfully constructed 98 vessels.
Anadolu Shipyard relocated to its current premises in Tuzla and manufactured 31 ships of various sizes and types. These vessels encompass coastal merchant ships, tankers, fishing boats, yachts, and dry cargo ships commissioned by numerous institutions and organizations.
Anadolu Shipyard was acquired by our founder Mr. Muharrem Faruk Ürkmez. Following significant investments to modernize the shipyard and expand its capacity, Anadolu Shipyard achieved heightened brand recognition within the Turkish shipbuilding industry due to its upgraded technology and enhanced production capabilities.
Throughout this timeframe, Anadolu Shipyard constructed a total number of 39 commercial vessels.
Anadolu Shipyard, driven by its new vision, has shifted its focus from commercial ship production to military ship production. In 2008, after thorough evaluations conducted by the Undersecretary of National Defense, an agreement was signed for the construction of 8 Landing Craft Tanks (LCT), which were subsequently delivered to the Turkish Naval Forces on schedule, within 36 months. This remarkable and successful delivery marked another significant milestone for the company.
Following the successful completion of the LCT vessel project, an additional agreement was reached for the construction of 2 LSTs and 8 LCVPs, based on the latest evaluations by the Undersecretary of National Defense. These vessels were delivered in 2017 and 2018 without any delay.
Anadolu Shipyard entered into a contract with the Qatar Armed Forces to fulfill the demand for 2 OPV Class CTS (Cadet Training Ship) for the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces (QENF). The first vessel "Al Doha" was successfully delivered on August 25, 2021, followed by the delivery of the second vessel "Al Shamal" on February 25, 2022.
To fulfill the requirements of the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces (QENF) Command, a new contract was signed on April 12, 2020, for the construction of 1 Landing Craft Tank (LCT), 2 Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM40), and 1 Landing Craft Vehicle and Personnel (LCVP). Apart from facilitating command, control, and force transfer operations essential to amphibious missions, these vessels will also be equipped to undertake humanitarian aid endeavors. Commencing on September 9, 2020, this project was completed with all vessels delivery by July 2022, meeting the designated timeline.
The Secretariat of Defence Industries (SSB) awarded TAIS-STM partnership to build 6th through 12th ships at MILGEM Project, the 'I' Class National Frigate, for the Turkish Navy. In this context, Anadolu Shipyard has taken the responsibility of building the 6th (TCG İZMİR), 9th and 12th ships of the Project. Proudly, the construction of the 6th and 9th ships continues. Following the successful completion and delivery of the 8 LCT vessel for Turkish Navy during the period 2013-2018, an additional agreement was reached for the construction of 8 more new type LCT, these 8 vessels will be delivered till 2028. To fulfill the technical requirements of the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces (QENF), a new contract was signed with Qatar for the purpose of providing In-Service Support (ISS) regarding their Cadet Training Ships (CTS) which previously delivered by Anadolu Shipyard. ISS mainly covers providing maintenance, spare parts, engineering services and transfer of technical expertise. With the TAIS cooperation, new contract negotiations for warships productions with some countries is in progress.
Anadolu Shipyard is currently constructing the 6th, 9th, and 12th ships under the 'I' Class MİLGEM Project. Hull construction of all three ships has been completed, and outfitting activities are currently in progress. In addition, under the New Type Landing Craft Tank (LCT) Project, comprising a total of eight ships, the first three ships—TCG Ç-159, TCG Ç-160, and TCG Ç-161—were successfully delivered to the Turkish Naval Forces ahead of the contractual delivery schedule. The remaining ships are scheduled for delivery by 2028. Under the National Coast Guard Ship Project, and pursuant to the contract signed with the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), construction of one Coast Guard Ship for delivery to the Turkish Coast Guard Command will commence at our shipyard in August 2026. Furthermore, negotiations on new contracts for the construction of warships for several countries in the African and Middle Eastern regions are currently ongoing.
