Our founder, M. Faruk Ürkmez, was born on March 14, 1939, and spent his formative years in Anadolu Hisarı, a district in Istanbul. He embarked on his entrepreneurial journey at the tender age of 10 by renting out bicycles with his father. In 1957, he completed his education, receiving comprehensive training in various disciplines at the Sultan Ahmet Institute, before venturing to Germany to commence his professional career.
Following several years of diligent work and residence in Germany, he made a definitive return to Turkey upon the passing of his father. In 1969, he initiated his own business endeavor in the iron trade, leasing a shop in the Perşembe Market. Capitalizing on governmental incentives in 1977, he transitioned into ship ownership and commenced vessel construction.
The pivotal acquisition of Anadolu Shipyard in 2004 marked a significant milestone in his career trajectory. Through strategic investments and meticulous management, he substantially enhanced the company's capabilities, culminating in its transformation into a shipyard specializing in military projects in 2008.
